Mid-infrared laser emission from Cr:ZnS channel waveguide fabricated by femtosecond laser helical writing
The operation of a mid-infrared laser at 2244 nm in a Cr:ZnS polycrystalline channel waveguide fabricated using direct femtosecond laser writing with a helical movement technique is demonstrated. A maximum power output of 78 mW and an optical-to-optical slope efficiency of 8.6% are achieved. The compact waveguide structure with 2 mm length was obtained through direct femtosecond laser writing, ...
متن کاملMid-infrared photonic crystal waveguides in silicon.
We demonstrate the design, fabrication and characterization of mid-infrared photonic crystal waveguides on a silicon-on-insulator platform, showing guided modes in the wavelength regime between 2.9 and 3.9 µm. The characterization is performed with a proprietary intra-cavity Optical Parametric Oscillator in a free space optical setup and with a fibre coupled setup using a commercial Quantum Cas...

متن کاملMid-infrared laser light nulling experiment using single-mode conductive waveguides
Aims: In the context of space interferometry missions devoted to the search of exo-Earths, this paper investigates the capabilities of new single mode conductive waveguides at providing modal filtering in an infrared and monochromatic nulling experiment; Methods: A Michelson laser interferometer with a co-axial beam combination scheme at 10.6 μm is used. After introducing a π phase shift using ...
متن کاملA Simple Model For Mid-Infrared Emission from Normal Galaxies
We have combined up-to-date stellar population synthesis models, a simple radiative transfer approach, and a fully comprehensive dust model with the aim of developing a simple but quantitative way of interpreting the midinfrared spectra of galaxies. We apply these models to the observed correlations of mid-infrared luminosities (at 8 and 24μm) with the star-formation rate of normal galaxies and...
